The Spirit of Dadaism
The collaboration between the artists of Cabaret Voltaire and The Home Hotel exemplifies cultural innovation and hospitality that transcends the boundaries of a conventional hotel art. As the cradle of Dadaism, Cabaret Voltaire stands for artistic,avant-garde, and experimental forms of expression through performances, installations, and visual art.
This creative spirit and Dada’s upbeat energy resonates in The Home Hotel, which is defined by its commitment to put art and design at its core. Home offers exclusive access to avant-garde artwork, creating an immersive experience that goes beyond traditional hotel stays. Here, the local art scene is supported, fostering a dialogue between artists and an international audience, and reinforcing the cultural significance of the hotel as a center of artistic encounter.
From Paper Mill to Hotel
We take pride in our roots. Being a part of a former paper mill on the river Sihl, The Home Hotel chose to celebrate the premises’ industrial past by making it an important part of our identity. Since the building’s columns couldn’t be removed, repainted, or covered, we decided to showcase them, creating important architectural features, like beautiful trees, that are highlighted with greenery and lighting. In short, while some architects might have viewed preservation-minded restrictions as a drawback, ours embraced them.
Throughout the construction process, the old mill building underwent a meticulous renovation, one that fully respected its heritage. The result is a seamless—and surprising—transition from past to present.
